The Finnish capital city, an intriguing cultural mix that combines east and west, has been signed as 2012 World Design Capital. The chosen theme for the year “World Design Capital, Open Helsinki – Embedding Design in Life, shows design as an influence that’s always close in our everyday life.
As World Design Capital, Helsinki will be involved in this one year round event, presenting a various and original agenda that will perform each different aspect of design, through events, exhibitions and shows all over the place.
Among the different things to go and see, from the 6th until the 16th September, at the Suvilahti, an industrial disused area, there will take place Helsinki – International Design House Exhibition: Everyday Discoveries”, an international design exhibition that will be held in the International Design House and that will suggest a selection of products following “a history of design driven by innovation”.
In this exhibition, together with the other representatives of the piedmontese design, 2 important Guido Gobino products have been chosen as symbols of Turin Design: Classic Giandujotto and N’Uovo.
In particular, the Classic Giandujotto presented at the show is exclusively realized by Daniela Cavalcabò, his carved in clay and covered with chocolate coloring. N’Uovo, once again realized by the designer Daniela Cavalcabò has been chosen as icon of 2008 Turin World Design Capital, is carved in gypsum and covered with chocolate coloring.
The initiative is promoted by Turin Chamber of Commerce and organized by the Foreign Center for Internationalization (CEI Piemonte) in the To-design in the World project, dedicated to give notice to piedmontese designers on abroad markets.
